Using photographs, ephemera, fabric and even wallpaper, Amy Heifetz creates multilayered collages. By hand cutting and rearranging images, the artist creates a world of wonderment that the viewer can enter and lose themselves. Heifitz’ work is an eclectic and vibrant fusion of pop culture, social commentary and urban landscapes rooted in Chicago. Her work combines contemporary figures, visual signifiers, iconic celebrities, graffiti and digital media in order to create pieces that invite the viewer to reflect on our ideas revolving perception and influence in contemporary life.
