Richard Gibbons is most commonly known as the founder of the Gibbons, Fortman, and Associates architecture design firm but is also a highly talented abstract and figurative painter. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame and after studying at the American Academy in Rome, Richard moved to Chicago where he currently resides. Gibbons paintings have been exhibited all over the world including Chicago, Paris, Los Angeles and New York. Gibbons' practice mainly focuses on representing the human body and showcasing it in all of its beauty. By creating highly theatrical and dynamic pieces, Gibbons presents the viewer with an entirely new take on the concept of portraiture.
Alongside his figure paintings, Gibbons lets his practice as an architect inform his cityscape and landscape paintings, Through this aspect of his practice Gibbons breaks from his customary subject matter and techniques, unlocking a whole new world of enthralling compositions. This versatility sets Gibbons apart and showcases all of his dexterity as a painter and as an artist.
